How do I best care for my Perfect Hair?
Your hair extensions are made from real human hair and therefore require special care. Although our hair extensions are of the highest quality, once theyโve been applied, they are no longer attached to your bodyโand that makes a big difference in how you care for them afterward.
Why do hair extensions require more care than my own hair?
Your natural hair is nourished from the inside out by your body. It also benefits from your scalpโs natural sebum production. Hair extensions are no longer connected to your body and therefore no longer receive this natural nourishment. Thatโs why hair extensions require more, more intensive, andโabove allโthe right kind of care than your own hair. Proper aftercare is essential to keep your hair extensions soft, shiny, and in perfect condition throughout the entire wear period. The quality of your hair extensions on the day you receive them is, of course, important, but their final condition while youโre wearing them is largely determined by the care you provide at home.
What hair care products should I use?
Weโre currently hard at work developing our own Perfect Hair Care line, specifically designed for our hair extensions and the unique protective layer on our hair. Until this line is available, weโve had various hair care products extensively tested. Our lab tests show that the products listed below are best at keeping the protective layer of our hair extensions intact.
Itโs important to know that a productโs suitability has nothing to do with whether itโs professional or non-professional. Even a product used by a hairstylist may contain ingredients that are less suitable for hair extensions. It comes down to the productโs composition and how it interacts with the protective coating on our hair extensions. Thatโs why we recommend sticking to the list below for your daily care routine.
- Redken All Softโour absolute number one!
Of all the products tested, Redken All Soft scores the highest for caring for Perfect Hair hair extensions. Thatโs why we recommend using the full All Soft regimen (shampoo, mask, conditioner, leave-in) whenever possible. This line will help your hair extensions retain their quality the longest.
Other suitable products:
- Shampoos: Redken Extreme, Redken Frizz Dismiss, Redken Volume Injection, Milkshake Silver Shine, Milkshake Silver Shine Light
- Masks: Redken Extreme, Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate
- Conditioners: Redken Extreme, Redken Frizz Dismiss
- Detangling Spray: L2 Care Lakme, Redken One United
- Heat Protection: Redken Play Safe, Redken Extreme Length Sealer, Steampod Steam-Activated Milk
You don’t need to add any extra products to this routine. These products are all you need to properly care for and protect your extensions.
Which products should I avoid?
Not every product thatโs suitable for natural hair is automatically suitable for hair extensions. We recommend avoiding Olaplex, K18, and keratin treatments/products, among others, unless your Perfect Hair stylist specifically advises otherwise. Products with a high concentration of certain ions, silicones, or film-forming ingredients, as well as highly acidic formulas, can also affect the protective layer of the extensions. This doesnโt mean these products are bad or unprofessional. They are simply not optimally suited to the protective layer of our hair extensions. Since itโs not always easy for you, as a customer, to assess ingredient lists, we recommend sticking to our list of recommended products to be on the safe side.
Why do you advise against using serums?
Serums are not necessary for caring for your hair extensions. In fact, we strongly advise against using them as part of your daily routine. Many serums form a thick, film-like layer around the hair. Over time, this can cause the hair to become drier and may lead to a decline in the condition of your hair extensions. So, more product doesn’t automatically mean better care. The right products, in the right amounts, and applied the right way, are much more important.
Use the full hair care routine every time you wash your hair.
Even if you donโt use heat on your hair, we recommend following the full care routine every time you wash it. The different cream textures ensure that your hair extensions get the care they need and help the hair dry soft, supple, and beautiful.
- Step 1 – Detangling: Detangle your hair and hair extensions with the right detangling brush.
- Gentle Detangling Brush: The Perfect Hair gentle detangling brush is ideal for gently and comfortably detangling hair, even on a sensitive scalp. Thanks to its flexible bristles, this brush is perfect for combing through wefts, tapes, Invisiline hair extensions, and natural hair without pulling or causing irritation.
- Hard Detangling Brush: The Perfect Hair hard detangling brush is specially designed to detangle hair smoothly and thoroughly without causing damage. Thanks to its sturdy bristles, this brush is perfect for detangling keratin hair extensions, I-tips, clip-ins, and ponytails, but itโs also suitable for natural hair without extensions.
- Step 2 – Shampoo: Apply shampoo only to the scalp. Gently massage the product into the lengths and let it rinse through. Do not rub the lengths of your hair extensions. It is best to wash your hair twice.
- Step 3 – Mask: Towel-dry your hair by wringing it out thoroughly or patting it gently with a towel to dry it a little more. Apply the mask to the mid-lengths and ends . Avoid the scalp and the attachment points of your hair extensions. Comb your hair thoroughly with our soft detangling brush, and itโs best to sleep with a hair tie in your hair. The more often you do this, the longer your hair extensions will stay in perfect condition. Place a towel on your pillowcase to keep it clean, and if you prefer, wrap a towel around your hair. You may braid your hair. In the morning, rinse out your hair mask. If you donโt like sleeping with your hair mask on, you can also wear it for a full day (8 hours) while youโre up and about. Just make sure your hair is perfectly detangled. After letting it sit for about 8 hours, rinse your hair thoroughly.
- Step 4 – Conditioner: Reapply conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends. This seals your hair cuticles and helps keep your hair soft and supple.
- Step 5 – Detangling Spray: Apply the detangling spray to the entire length of the hair, except for the scalp, and gently detangle the hair again, this time using the detangling brush that best suits your hair extension technique (see above)
- Step 6 – Heat Protection: Always use a heat protectant when blow-drying. Apply it to your entire hair, except for the scalp, or use a leave-in product like Redken All Soft.
Detangle your Perfect Hair several times a day.
One of the most important steps in your aftercare routine is to detangle your hair regularly and gently. Gently brush through your hair extensions several times a day to prevent tangles and matting. Use only the brushes and tools offered by Perfect Hair. These are specifically designed for our hair extensions and various attachment techniques.

Always brush gently and, if necessary, work from the tips upward. Never pull hard on tangles or on the fasteners.
Protect your hair extensions from external factors.
Although our hair extensions are of very high quality, they are still real hair. External factors can therefore always affect their condition. Try to protect your hair extensions as much as possible from:
- โ๏ธprolonged exposure to the sun
- ๐ seawater
- ๐๏ธ sand
- ๐ chlorinated water
- ๐จ Hair Dyes & Toners
- ๐ฅ extreme heat
- harsh or unsuitable hair products
Do you want to color, bleach, or tone your hair extensions? Always discuss this with your Perfect Hair partner salon first. This will help you avoid unnecessary damage or color changes.
The quality of your hair extensions depends on your aftercare.
Perfect Hair ensures that your extensions meet our high-quality standards at the time of purchase. From the moment you start wearing them, the installation, daily care, and aftercare also play an important role in how long they remain beautiful and in good condition. So the quality you start with isn’t necessarily the quality you end up with. Proper care is essential to keeping your hair extensions looking their best throughout the entire time you wear them. Therefore, Perfect Hair cannot be held responsible for damage, dryness, or discoloration.
